A comic book I wrote and Illustrated as part of my fourth year studies at Emily Carr. Green Planet about the struggles of an activist lifestyle and the perils of living in a world where you companies can own life itself.
In a dystopian future where a teacher illegally grows food for the black market, one of her students who was temporarily living with her discovers her secret. My comic examines the relationship between people, their food and how corporations are now copywriting seeds and thus, forms of life itself.
Ideation and Planning Stage
Before I could begin creating my comic book layout and such I needed to figure out what story I wanted to tell. Below are images of my process as I generated ideas and characters for Green Planet.
Thumbnails & Script
The next step was to create thumbnails and a script. I had originally written way too much to include in an eight page comic (that I also had only 5 weeks to complete) so I had to pair down what I wanted on each page. After completing the thumbnails I scanned the images and put them into photoshop to trace and refine.
After digitalising my comic's line work I moved onto colouring.
